Hi BMG’ers. Just a note to let you know that some elected officials have made generous donations to a charity auction benefiting Temple Beth Emunah in Brockton. Feel free to check out the items and bid if you so desire.
Go to http://tbe.cmarket.c… and click on the Celebrity category.
* Senator Bob Creedon and Representative Geraldine Creedon will host you for a State House tour, photo, and lunch.
* Plymouth County Treasurer (and former State Rep) Tom O’Brien will host you for lunch.
* State Rep Christine Canavan has donated a hand-knit children’s sweater… didn’t want to leave her out, even though she did not offer lunch with her.
Happy bidding!

Getting way too interested in CMarket auctions, online bidding for charitable causes. So many causes, too little money. The Boston Business Journal ran a good profile of their CEO this week, guess they are based in Cambridge.

My only issue with most online auctions is that they close and the high bid goes to a live auction — i.e. we bid the price up, and if we can’t be there, run the risk of being outbid. That said, it’s still an interesting way to raise cash in these tight times.

I belive they call that “serial bidding.”
Agree with you Howard, and cMarket has done great stuff for the non-profit world.

This one stands as an online only auction, no live date follow, and has lots of accessible items, not just the mega trips and jewelry and autographs.

So all those contributions from 2006 can be substituted with bids for Sox tickets! And for good causes!

But seriously. I’m glad I know my limits. I see some bidders names posted up there again and again. Maybe they have the financial wherewithal for it, though I think some are EBay resellers.

Funny story, I bought 4 Celtics tickets for $320, with a face value of $580, thought I had a bargain for the Celtics-Philly game in December, Pierce vs Iverson. Next thing I knew, Pierce was hurt and Iverson traded, oh well, the seats and the company were still good.
