After Concord, I went to Wayland?s beautiful public library to greet some of the patrons, who are very lucky to call Massachusetts? first free public library their own. From Wayland we took a quick break for ice cream at Kimball Farm Ice Cream in Carlisle. I was struck by the character that the 5th District?s small businesses add to the area ? and how we must always support them with public policies like tax credits.
Finally, we held our campaign kick-off rally on the front steps of Old Town Hall in Andover. It was so wonderful to stand before beautiful Old Town Hall with my wife Amy, my little girls Ava and Ella, amidst family, friends, and supporters, in the town I have served for over 12 years now, first as a Selectman and then as a State Representative.
As I said to my supporters at the rally, I am the candidate in this race who will work the hardest for the 5th District. My successes in life have always been the result of dreaming big, never giving up, and working the hardest. That?s my formula and that?s how I?ll work for the 5th District in Washington. That kind of tenacity is precisely what we need in Washington RIGHT NOW to stand up to the Bush Administration and put forth big ideas.
My last stop of the night was a campaign party with supporters at Coyle?s Tavern ? one of the best spots in town.
It was a great day today and I look forward to four more on the announcement tour. Thanks again to all those who came out and we?ll see you on the trail.
