House Majority Leader John Rogers hand-off of $200,000.00 to a former law partner as a political consulting fee should raise eyebrows among his colleagues and constituents. The numbers are out of the stratosphere. Perhaps his associate was turning the money over to another consultant that was doing the work. Someone Rogers wanted to hide? That is not as bad. Stupid, but not dishonest.
However, “the walk like a duck crowd quack like a duck” crowd say that this has the appearance of Rogers funneling a large amount of money from his a campaign account to his associate and possibly back to himself. That is not legal.
I hope Rogers was just stupid with the money. He is the majority leader and with the bad press the House has gotten with their last two speakers, they should demand answers from Rogers. In fact, he should be hitting the phones explaining.
