Over at Universal Hub, Adam’s putting together a citizen interview for, uh, “controversial” Suffolk DA Dan Conley. Hopefully Adam won’t mind if I just quote in full:
You’re in a room with Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley. He’s waiting for your questions. So what would you ask him?
Here’s your chance. We’re going to experiment with a public interview, where you, not some reporter, decides what to ask. Conley has agreed to take your questions in this format:
Over the next couple of days, post possible questions as a reply here. I’ll pick what seem like 10 good questions. Then we’ll vote on the questions – the top five most popular ones will get submitted to Conley. He’ll have next week to come up with answers, which I’ll post on July 9 – and which you’ll then be able to discuss.
The only request Conley made was: No questions on specific cases. But that still leaves plenty of other areas to ask him about. For example: Violent crime; gangs; murder conviction rates; witness intimidation; gun control; a shortage of jurors; the death penalty. I’m sure you can come up with other topics.
To get you started with some ideas, here are some links:
Letting the DA skate – Critical piece in the Phoenix.
Issues:
Bill tries to stem teens’ threats to witnesses
Boston to press Congress for tougher gun laws
25 alleged Boston gang members charged with gun, drug offenses.
Discussion welcome here, of course, but go to UHub to ask Conley questions.

Name them and tell us about them. Why didn’t he prosecute the police officer mentioned in the Red Sox riot report that repeatedly shot a stun gun at an injuted person looking for help?
What about the detective on camera stealing sunglasses?

When is this incompetent buffoon going to begin a wholesale onslaught on this outrageous behavior in Roxbury? Start asking for life sentences? Asking for one on and after, after another at sentencing.

This guy is a joke.

Conley is not 100% to blame, the imbecile mayor and his absolutely disgracefull police commissioner, Kathleen O’Toole would be doing life if stupidity, arrogance, and incompetence were criminal offenses. I knew kathleen O’Toole when she was a patrolman. She was even a competent patrolman. She spent the next thirty years being a political hack.

God save us from these fools!

Re Ms. O’Toole that should read INCOMPETENT patrolman.

I fully realize that Davis is now the present commissioner. He will be attempting to fix this mess years from now.

O’Tooleeven more egregiously looked the other way at misconduct and the abysmal failure of the Boston PD crime lab. Unbelievably she used it as the penal colony for the Boston PD. When a cop stepped in do-do she would transfer them to the crime lab/forensics. Isn’t that nice?
