It was strangely gratifying.
I was inspired by this call from the Joe Biden Campaign. I have minimal-to-zero hope that my phone call made an impact, but taking five minutes out of my life to tell someone at the White House I think Bush and Cheney should resign or be impeached felt good.
It was kind of like looking at the Victoria’s Secret catalogue as a teenager, if I can allude to a popular analogy. I would urge everyone here to give it a try and vent a little bit. Relieve a tiny bit of angst before the big holiday.
Does anyone actually know what happens to these comments? Do they go to the circular file, or am I now on the wire tap list?
And if you’re really motivated, here are some other phone numbers:
Senator Kerry: (617) 565-8519
Senator Kennedy: (202) 224-4543
Senate Majority Leader Reid: (202) 224-3542
Speaker Pelosi: (202) 225-0100
Phone numbers for the Massachustts House Delegation

BTW – Blade – when you call all those Senators – ask them why they have all refused to co-sign the House’s articles of impeachment. Because that’s all it takes – one Senator to co-sign – for impeachment proceedings to begin.

Oh, and call Sen. Biden too and ask HIM the same question.

(Betcha five bucks you get some drivel about how it’s more politically valuable to kvetch about impeachment instead of doing it, because ya see, they don’t have the vote, and the dog ate their homework, and…and..and..)

I said that I urged everyone I called (Biden included) to sign on to Rep Kucinich’s articles of impeachment. Kerry has a voice mail, and from the others I did get a lot of “we wont back down on this issue” blah, blah, blah.

Whatever. Kind of like commenting on BMG, it just feels good to gripe some times.
tblade says
I do not mean to imply that commenting on BMG is a fruitless endevor. I just mean that there are times when I come to BMG just to gripe and preach to the choir. Sometimes it feels good to unload on to like minded people.

Sorry for the poor word choice.

Ya think we would have started this site if we didn’t need to gripe?

Itch, meet scratch.

Yesterday morning shortly after 9am I tried calling both 202-456-1111 and 202-456-1414 several times over about 15 minutes and got just busy signals. I hoped it was all because of people griping about the same thing.

BTW, why are you listing Kerry’s Boston office but Kennedy’s DC office? (they both have Boston & DC offices) puzzled
tblade says
The only reason I listed Kerry’s Boston office was a.) he’s on break this week and Congress is supposedly back in their home districts and b.) because Kerry has voice mail. If a human has to pick up and hear that constituents want to comment about Bush, Cheney, and Libby, it might make more of an imeadiate mental impact. Infact, my message may be heard twice – once by the person answering the phone and once by the person listening to the voice mail.

I’m not sure how much impact phone calls actually make, but if I can squeeze a little bit more impact out of them, it might be worth the shot.
