We only call regular primary voters–Democrats and Independents. Most have only a basic awareness that there is an election. We mention Jamie?s opposition to the war and support for single payer universal health care.
When I’ve been calling we’ve been calling towns outside of his southern “base,” but typically 35-40% of people we call come on board as supporters, another 15-20% are for an opponent or refuse (politely) to say, and the rest are undecided. Virtually everyone is willing to listen and sometimes talk. Each evening it definitely feels like you mde a difference. They also provide food if anyone wants it.
Anyway, the only phone banking I?ve ever done which was this easy was back in 2004, when as a Kerry volunteer we?d call other volunteers and try to get them to come to New Hampshire that weekend.
The phone bank itself is at 297 Newbury St (Between Hereford and Glucester; 1.5 blocks from the Hynes T stop), Suite 301, in Boston. We call from 6PM ? 8:30PM every Thursday night.
RSVPs are not necessary, but feel free to email Jamie?s field person Neil Chadbury: neel at jamieforcongress dot com
The vote is in less than 9 weeks, so if you plan to help, please get involved ASAP! The next Boston Phonebank is this Thursday, 2 days from today.
