The Patrick campaign truly electrified Massachusetts with its rhetoric of transforming state government. I must confess I have been a bit disappointed at the lack of transforming rhetoric & actions since the inauguration. For that reason today’s “Ask the Governor” on Eagan & Braude (96.9 FM) was a real booster shot. Deval spoke eloquently & effectively on a range of issues. On his new volunteer initiative for state employees, he nearly converted a skeptical Eagan. His empathic, yet nuanced, response to a call about pension abuses was superb & far from the pablum left & right have fed us on this issue. On issues from CORI reform, casino gambling to the election of judges he challenged his callers,with a supportive not patronizing tone, to raise their game to a new level of complexity. I hope the ideas behind this impressive performance are evident in future Patrick statements & decisions
