In my presentation, one of the items I highlighted was that John Edwards publicly admitted to being wrong in his Iraq vote. In my opinion, a candidate who can admit they were wrong, rather than saying “Oh! I have seen the light!” or “I never said that [when the candidate DID say that]” like Romney is doing is a candidate with integrity.
Of course, one of the key issues for me is child welfare and family preservation – so far the only candidate who seems to care about these issues at all is John Edwards.
In the interests of full disclosure, my mother was a mill worker when young in up state New York – so the fact that John Edward’s father worked in a mill, and that he did early on resonates with me.

Congratulations! I took a brief break from canvassing for Jamie Eldridge over in Convord, to stop in at the picnic. It was a nice event. I came in at the end of the speaking and missed your speech. It must have been impressive. I hope to say hi next time we cross paths.

-Obama consistently opposed the war, I prefer someone who doesnt make crucial mistakes to someone who owns up to poor decisions, doesnt negate the fact that the original decision was poor
-The Iraq defecit means that Edwards cannot possibly pay for all the spending he is promising on health care and anti poverty measures so those are blatantly false promises
-Edwards and his populist streak will alienate pro business wings of the party that we need to raise money and also to deliver the more libertarian West, the solution is not bigger government but better government and I am not sure John realizes that

That said its nice to have grassroots organizations at the most local level hold events like this and perhaps the Cambridge committee should borrow the idea.
