I don’t usually like to crosspost, but this is going be hitting the Lowell Sun tomorrow.

She’s represented the district for 10 years in Washington?  News to me?

  2. Obviously it was a slip of the tongue, but the real question is what it reveals about her mindframe regarding her experience.

    Does she think that being wife to a sitting legislator is the same as being a legislator? Sure, connections in DC can be helpful, but aren’t we trying to move away from insider politics?

    Will Ms. Tsongas go to DC and be a voice for change or will she sidle up next to her old friends and blend in?

  4. ….is silly.  Does anyone think she really means for people to believe she was a Congresswoman for 10 years.  It is not even a slip of the tongue.  People talk about “respresenting” this or that all the time, particulaly when they are away from home and are identified for some reason for where they come from.  As a political wife she certainly did represent her district for that long.

    • Of course she was representing Massachusetts and her district as the wife of a congressman.  When Hillary Clinton traveled to foreign countries during her husband’s terms in office, she was representing the United States.  It’s just the difference between ‘representing’ and ‘Representing.’

  5.   More of the same and never change. Then we wonder why D.C. never changes and congress polls in the high teens. All that aside, I think she did slip when saying it. She does really believe that though. She just got caught on tape saying it.

  6. I don’t understand why everyone would not vote for her. She is awsome. I mean she was married to Paul Tsongas. So let’s all kiss her ass.

    • Why so mean, Ernie?  She’s a nice lady, though I do wonder if she would be in the race at all if it were not for the quick recognition of her husband’s name.  Very sly how her folks are making damn sure to use it early and often. I’m sorry, but “Tscoops” is too clever by at least half.  Does she have the Tsignificance and Tskills to do the job? Not to be too Tsubtle about this, but I don’t see the Tsubstance. 

      • But she is running for Congress, not water commissioner, she should be able to take that tone from a crank like me.

That?s what happens to the best of people.  How else would she think she is qualified to serve in Congress. My God man, she is an assistant dean of students (I think) at a community college. She is good at keeping sweat hogs in line, but that’s probably about it. And her husband was a U.S. Senate and a legitimate candidate for president.

        If she was willing to work or had talent or influence she would have gotten a better job in the private sector. But she has been a hack living off her husband’s name not doing a lot of heavy lifting.. She would be lousy for us in Congress.

        It will be based on who can deliver the most for the constituents and of course, who I dislike least.

      Niki Tsongas has never represented anyone anywhere at any time. She says she represented the people because her husband served in the United States Senate. I guess we should be happy she wasn?t married to a surgeon.

      If her name were Niki Smith instead of Niki Tsongas, there is little chance she would be the frontrunner in the Democratic field. Tsongas is the only candidate in the race who has never held elective office. Her status thus far is based entirely on her famous name. Her platform, as we have heard it, is little more than a list of Democratic talking points.

  8. There is a big difference between being a surgeon’s wife and a senator’s wife.  Anything Niki did reflected on the state and the city of Lowell while her husband served.  If she had made a mistake, and it ended up on the news, you had better believe people would jump on her as not “representing” the district very well.  I feel certain it was a slip.  And just as certain that she felt as if she was representing the people of Massachusetts and acting and caring accordingly.
