Branching out from a previous discussion, I find myself wondering about the make-up of our readers, not just our interlocutors. There are just about 3000 accounts on BMG, and I see some 60 people regularly in the comments or posting.
Where is everyone else? Granted, it’s summer, but I’d be much obliged if readers would answer the poll. None of the options are meant to be insulting, but especially for readers without accounts — if they exist — I’m tying to give a spread of choices.
In short, just how much are we all whistling in the dark. Please feel free to leave additional info in the comments.

If so, get all 3,000 of them because between the group they should be able to come up with one good argument.

Sabutai, I was a regular reader long before I ever posted, and was motivated to register for an account only when there was one little thing that I needed to post. (No one else had pointed out a particular website that I knew people would want to see.) Until that time, I was never able to participate in any polls, because one needs to be registered in order to do so. (And for me the privilege of voting in some poll was never sufficient motivation to bother with registration.)

So I think you are unlikely to get a representative sample of lurkers to respond to your poll, because many or most of them will not be among the 3000 account holders.

I think like a lot of bloggers that I have a dilettante approach, so I go in phases.
