A New Hampshire waitress dresses down Mitt at a restaurant visit; Mitt promises to “give health care” to a waitress in NH if he’s elected.
Of course, what he really means is “we’ll require you to pay for your health insurance.”
It’s an interesting and actually somewhat productive exchange, in any event. I wonder if Mitt will start running on MA health care — for better or worse.
Come to think of it — all the candidates ought to get pelted with these kinds of questions. Bring it on!

I thought his response aside from being a little cold was actually half decent. Of course he is a hypocrite – he failed to mention that he vetoed a major funding mechanism for the plan.
I mean, it’s not an easy sell, but yeah, he tries to explain it.

I think the “dressing down” came when Mitt was talking about “health care diplomacy”, and she correctly asks about health care for folks at home.
Maybe she should move to Massachusetts. No way that His Expediency should be allowed to take credit for the Massachusetts health care plan, though — it was passed despite him, not because of him.
What did this guy do to make him a bash bag here? One would think that he has won the nomination even though he continues to not even be close. Wow, the rancor here is unbelievable.
Aren’t there better things to discuss?
Romney misrepresented himself to get elected. He ran as a moderate, fiscally responsible manager, then tried to govern as a social conservative.
while your busy bashing Romney, a second tier candidate, that a Guliani, Thompson or Gingrich might become the next President? Again, I don’t “get” the obsession here with Romney
other than some incredibly partisan hatred from some dark past that serves absolutely no purpose vented on “us-ta-be” gov. oh well…enjoy the bash party . how about a bash party for Woodrow Wilson?he was a mass governor repub too, wasn’t he? and just about as relevant, eh?
It isn’t a “bash party,” to ask a candidate his views on health care. That woman had every right to ask those questions, and frankly I’m glad that video is getting around. Nobody here made Romney look that crass and mechanical, and nobody here forced Romney to give standard talking points to address the real concerns of the woman in the video. Whatever “bashing,” this video does, Romney did to himself.

My opinion aside, Romney isn’t a second tier candidate, as scary as that fact is. In Iowa and in New Hampshire, Romney is actually in the top tier on the Republican side. Obviously, polls change and we’ve got a long way to go. But to consider Romney a “second tier candidate,” while wishful thinking, is ultimately wrong.
bashing here on this site. I don’t come here that often but when I do, it takes several minutes to sift through the Romney vitriol. I was merely saying that to me it is a waste of time
See, I thought that by making a comment on this particular blog post wherein Romney shows his craven colors, I thought you were somehow referring to — and this is so silly of me — this blog post.
was Governor of New Jersey, and a Democrat.

Multiple Choice Mitt, the video
I can’t speak for any one else but I do not want this man to be president and there it is in nutshell. Not that I can make a difference (maybe I can?) but it feels good to call Mitt to the carpet. Kind of like his Lt Gov and a little site called DemsForHealey.
I just saw you in the Weekly Dig today. It was a nice piece; glad to see you get some recognition for your hard work.

…silliness is nothing more than another version of the Republican “GWBush hater” mantra. That mantra has been stupid, and so is your complaint. As far as I’m concerned, we’re laughing at Mittens.

Regarding Aren’t there better things to discuss? why don’t you posit one of the “better things to discuss” and maybe we’ll discuss them instead of laughing at Mittens.
He didn’t do anything. In 2005 he spent more days outside the state than inside the state.

Re: the video, I agree he did well — he stuck to the point and answered her. He’s icy, but he answered.
…or making a speech? she didnt want to listen. what was the point about the cars. I am willing to bet she does not know who her Congressman or US Senators are.
who her Congressman is or her US Senators? Why? Because she gave your boy a hard time? I am willing to bet you toss out ad hominem attacks at the drop of a hat.
didn’t was already have a user diary on this?

for me, the most meaningful part was in the last 30 seconds or so, when you hear the waitress off camera noting all the tips she’s lost for the hours that willard was running his self-serving campaign stop. what are the odds that he left anything in the tip jar? people like him just have no clue. reminds me of, was it schwarzeneggar or ghw bush, who went o buy a pair of socks during a similar campaign stop and had no money and didn’t know how to pay, since his “people” usually did that for him. yeah, some to the coffee shop to show us you’re a man of the people? riiiight.
is our own Senator Kerry who throws quarter tips around like they were manhole coves..wow is he cheap!
Mitt is a philanthropist compared to the king of cheap Kerry.
