* Bob strongly believes that we must end our over-reliance on the residential property tax as the main revenue source for municipalities. He feels, and I wholeheartedly agree, that this is essential if we want to maintain adequate municipal and school services while making sure that seniors can stay in their homes and young families can establish a foothold. Towards this end, Bob supports the full passage of the Governor’s legislation (Municipal Partnership Act) that will allow municipalities to realize cost savings and new revenue sources. * Bob is committed to increased State funding for public education and higher State reimbursement for critical school construction projects. * Public safety is at risk because of budget cuts in cities and towns. Bob supports the Governor’s plan to add more police officers and additionally wants to commit State funds to sufficiently staff all fire departments. * Because of his experience in a small business where he has seen health insurance costs skyrocket for both employers and employees, Bob supports moving toward a single-payer health insurance system. This will reduce costs for small businesses (where most job growth occurs) and their employees. * Bob supports expansion of the property tax circuit breaker to lower tax bills for those on limited incomes.
