Meanwhile, Peter Kenney keeps beavering away on Cape Cod Today as he attempts to track $675,000 in Wampanoag money used by disgraced former tribe leader Glenn Marshall to buy a horse stable in Mashpee.
Finally, I’ve got a commentary on all this in today’s Providence Journal.

This is big reason I don’t want a casino coming to Massachusetts….these are the people in the business. The gambling industry isn’t peopled by wonderful souls trying to do what’s good for people while filling a need and making a coupla bucks. The gambling industry is made up of people who are okay with the fact that their industry is built on ruined lives. The moneymakers are not the weekend bus trips types, they’re the all-dayers pounding away on slot machines that offer the biggest margins to the house. Once you’ve accepted that you want to work in such a predatory field, it’s not much of a jump to engage in embezzlement, bribery, and all manner of crimes.

I just don’t want to open the door to folks such as that coming into Massachusetts — we got too many of ’em already here.
