1. J. James Marzilli, currently the representative for 23rd Middlesex, Arlington [mostly]. Marzilli's campaign “kick off” is September 24th in Arlington, information is at: http://www.yourarlington.com/joomla/content/view/513/2/ Jim Marzilli announced his candidacy on BMG some time ago.
2. Charles Murphy, currently the representative for 18th Middlesex, Burlington based district.
3. Patrick Natale, currently the representative for the 30th Middlesex.
5. A retired fire fighter by the name of Kevin Donnelly, with experience as a union organizer, I believe.
That is “so far” and if I have names to add, I will do so. These are excellent candidates, and I know four out of five of them – but will be supporting Jim Marzilli [in the interests of disclosure] whom I have known since 1985.
Ken is a retired fire fighter (35 years as a Lexington Fire Fighter) and Secretary-Treasurer of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM). That is the statewide union covering 12,000 fire fighters in every city and town.

Ken is a long time Arlington resident and activist, well respected in the Labor community. With an office directly across from the State House, he has worked on every piece of legislation pertaining to fire fighters and public sector union/municipalities.

Donnelly was quoted in the Lexington Minuteman Newspaper (9/5/07) as explaining his reasons for running –

“I’ve spent the last 35 years helping people as a firefighter and labor leader,” said Donnelly. “I look forward to expanding this role and working with the citizens of this district on issues that we all face every day, such as affordable health care and housing, a quality education, public safety, and creating a strong economy.”

With bases in Arlington and Lexington and the possibility for union support, Donnelly has the potential to be a top tier candidate.

Full disclosure – my union has not endorsed any candidate

The event is “for sure” – I cannot imagine any of them being no shows – but will post updates as I get them as to “who has confirmed” or “who is not going to participate”.
