President Bill Clinton will visit Lowell this month to campaign on behalf of Democratic candidate for Congress Niki Tsongas.
Clinton’s appearance on Sept. 30 will precede the special election by about two weeks …
The evening campaign event, at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, marks the most prominent endorsement to date in the compressed race to replace former U.S. Rep. Marty Meehan.
“I strongly support her candidacy, am delighted she is running and Congress will be a better place because she is there,” Clinton said in an e-mail via his communications director.
That should be a good event.

Niki's internal polling numbers must be really bad, to bring in someone her husband Paul was disillusioned with. Paul Tsongas had soured on Bill Clinton in 1996 and thought hard about forming a third party. See that's why I liked Paul Tsongas, and even voted for him in the 1992 Presidential primary. He actually stood for something.

Since 1997. Try to keep up, EaBo!
eaboclipper says
Said Paul Tsongas misled on his cancer, and now Niki is bringing Bill Clinton in to campaign for her? That is just amazing.

I'm disillusioned with the Catholic church. My wife…not so much.
I'm disillusioned with broccoli. My wife loves it.
I think Paul's widow has a brain, too. So she may use it to think up her own thoughts, that being what brains are commonly used for.
And maybe Bill's machine said something Bill didn't like. Or maybe Bill liked it, but has since made amends with Niki.

And maybe you did not automatically change your registration back…so who knows how long you were on the Dark Side for. EaBo, the Manchurian Republican.
eaboclipper says
And as I said on RMG, if not for the happenstance of Geography i.e. being born in Massachusetts, Paul Tsongas would have been a republican.

Yes, let's focus on the past and forget about the future…..That is what this campaign for the 5th district should be all about????????? The fact of the matter is that Bill Clinton is a huge draw and will motivate alot of base support, while others choose to sit on the sidelines and throw barbs. What have you done today to support a candidate who will make a difference? Let's just taser everyone who disagrees with another's opinion. Yes, that is what free speech has been reduced to in this country. At least Bill Clinton is trying to make a difference. While we are at it, let's all just abandon Deval Patrick now because he supports casinos and others don't. Dear Lord, that is what is wrong with progressive politics. Too many heads stuck….well you know.

EaBo’s a big Ogo guy.

6'4″ 300+lbs. đŸ˜‰
But I do find it interesting that Niki would bring in somebody who's political machine called her husband liar regarding his cancer. That is pretty amazing.

…I’d check your BMI, but eyeballing it, it’s unlikely that your BMI is all that good.
eaboclipper says
But to have a healthy BMI, I'd have to binge and purge or have some other eating disorder. For my height I'm supposed to be 185 lbs. That seems anorexic to me. But we digress.
raj says
…brought up your height and weight. Not I.
raj says
…EaBo genuflects to military. As long as they are Republicans, of course.

I wonder whether he would support a ticket with Wesley Clark running as a Democrat. Same with Jim Webb.
melanie says
I doubt he is just coming here for Tsongas, but yeah, should be good.
