Peter Porcupine, one of our resident curmudgeons, has coined an amusing moniker for the new “independent commission” that Governor Patrick has proposed to regulate the Massachusetts casino industry: GamblePort. Pretty good. Can anyone do better? Consider this the “naming the casino regulator open thread.” We’ll post a poll of the top 5 or so and get the BMG consensus on what to call the new agency. Together we can! đŸ˜‰
In other casino news, Jay Fitzgerald (HT: Dan) has quite the interesting article today on where Governor Patrick got some (though not all) of the information that informed his casino recommendation. In short, Donald Trump was there. So was Charlie Sarkis. Fitzgerald’s article has a rundown of who met with whom when, though I hope it’s not complete, since it lists only one anti-casino meeting (Sen. Sue Tucker). I’d like to see the full timeline. Come to think of it, I’d like to see the full report. Anyone got access yet?
