That’s right folks, even the Governor of “Live Free or Die” New Hampshire is supporting a proposal to increase tolls on the state’s highways to pay for needed transportation infrastructure improvements.
SALEM, N.H. –Transportation Commissioner Charles O’Leary today proposed hiking tolls throughout most of New Hampshire’s turnpike system to pay for construction projects.
Gov. John Lynch said he supports the plan and would ask the Executive Council to approve the increases in two weeks.
I’m irked that the Governor there has more cajones than ours does when it comes to assessing the state’s needs and coming up with sensible measures to pay for them.
Please share widely!

“toll fairness” appears to be just as contentious there as it is here.

Are you kidding? New Hampshire still relies on every regressive tax in the book to support the government, and steadfastly and in the face of insanity refuses to even consider a modest income tax. Instead, they take their income, put it in the bank, and promptly write out a check to cover their exhorbitant, and regressive, property tax.
But otherwise, yeah, pretty sensible.
