[First, a cheap plug for my blog Senate 2008 Guru: Following the Races.]
Does it seem like there's a new Republican scandal in the news every single week? Well, that may be because there is.
That seems like an awful lot of corruption, scandal, hypocrisy, impropriety, and jail-worthy crime, huh? A lot of corruption. One might say an entire Culture of Corruption.
Please share widely!

William Jefferson ring a bell, Republican of Louisiana I believe. Then we have the eleven Republicans in New Jersey that just got locked up and the Republican governor of New Jersey is under the spotlight for some sort of imprpriety re giving loans to a union thug's brother, in addition to multiple state jobs.
All these Republicans getting jammed up —-it's unbelievable. Well , I guess the democrats are showing us how to succeed in politics without being corrupted.
Congrats to the dems.

instead of just whining.

And then there's that war that the Democrats started for no discernible reason that has led to windfall profits for Democrat-connected mercenary…I mean, private security…firms and general contractors. That's the worst one of all.

Ya I know remember that well—I was there. John F. Kennedy and then Lyndon Johnson, two notorious republicans goy 57,000 Americans killed for no particular good reason, I think the excuse was security. Took a Dem by the name of Richard Nixon to escape that fiasco.
As per usual the dems come to the rescue.

…American involvement in Vietnam began under Eisenhower.

I’ve made that clear here several times. Just how many people are hiding behind your MCRD handle?

I notice how you and Peter would rathe rtalk about the 70s than the current century. Rather re-dissect Vietnam than look at what's going on Iraq. Rather giggle about Gerry Studds than consider what Senators Vitter and Craig say about the modern Republican party. You do realize that referencing things that happened before I was born doesn't make for a convincing argument when discussing today's politics, right?

…I’m always skeptical of these so-called “stings” held by law enforcement agencies. I have been since reading about AbScam. Remember that?
<
p>
I’m sure that you will have a glib retort, but the problem that you have with stings is that those politicians who are not invited to be stung, will not be stung. So, in AbScam, the FBI invited almost exclusively Democratic politicians to be stung, and they were.
<
p>
Why did the FBI not invite more Republicans to be stung? I’ll leave it to your imagination, but I might be willing to wager that the whole thing had had something to do with their budget.
<
p>
It is the makeup of the potential stingies that’s important. Something that you appear to fail to recognize.
<

Maybe the FBI should hold stings in Georgia or Ohio. I wonder what they might find.

How about,”You can't corrupt an honestman.”
Now that you mention it, I had forgotten, the esteemed John Murtha.
Honest John Murtha missed his photo finish with a federal grand jury, not because he wasn't a corrupt slimeball, which he remains, but because he was looking for a bigger payout. Had the feds sweetened the pot Murtha would still be sitting in the can.
Don't sit there and pontificate about greed and corruption. Many of the vermin on Capitol Hill, irrespective of party affiliation, have done nothing but feather their own nests, the present speaker of the house and senate president are numero uno.
Nancy Pelosi demanding US Air Force aircraft at her beck and call to fly friends and family around at taxpayer expense and burning up hundreds of thousands of JP-8 just adds icing to the cake.
A pox on all their houses.

…if the FBI targets only politicians from party X, and not party Y, in a sting operation, they will never find out how many politicians from party Y might have been stung.

Not really, no.

But keep pushing a discredited story.

Dan Rostenkowski got a pardon from Bill Clinton.

p>Too much mud is able to be slung on this subject. Too many politicians on both sides of the aisle are or have been involved in shenanigans to make either party look good.
Pretty soon we’ll have to break out the old “Ah, now but he (she) always helped the poor now!”, to make any of the politicians look good.

Is it just me or is this a terrible subject to bring up?
