Bikes for Boston
In July a company in Paris launched a city wide biking rental service. More that 10,000 bikes installed in the City; over 4mln people have used the service: 100,000 rides a day. Wow. Other cities in Europe have similar programs.
I realize there are several months bikes are not practical for Boston, but we do have 200 days a year of sunshine. We have a young population, a large about of commuters who work in the city.
We have a rising amount of diabetes and obesity. We have a high dependency of fossil fuels. We need more biking riding.
Mayor Menino has the biking bug, let’s invite one of these companies to set up in Boston

Actually, the Globe ran an article a few weeks ago on on how Boston is looking to improve bicycling infrastructure around Boston. (There was also another, longer story, but I can’t find that right now.) As part of this, their also considering bringing a cyclocity-style program here.
