Thinking out loud, the differences seem to be:
Personable: Now, maybe John Kerry doesn’t have to be personable anymore. He’s entrenched, during his last campaign he always came off as rigid and aloof… undoubtedly a factor in his painful loss. Ed is an above average and articulate speaker who just seems… human.
Eager: Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone as senator who is eager to be in the senate? Eager to do the work of a senator and eager to be responsive to the needs of MA residents? I’m not saying that wanting to be president disqualifies someone from being in their current office, but let’s be real… he spent nearly half of his current term running for president and recovering from his loss. How about someone who spends his whole term representing MA residents in the Senate?
Passionate: Need I say more?

I’m a supporter of Ed’s who moved back to Massachusetts at the end of 1999 and agree wholeheartedly.

It mystified me, in the 2002 Senatorial race, that we never once saw candidate John Kerry (or even a Kerry bumper sticker) here in Western Mass. If Kerry did come west of the Quabbin, it was pretty low-profile.

Recently, when 5 or 6 police officers arrested a student before Kerry’s eyes and tased the student for asking Kerry three questions, Kerry was speaking down at the University of Florida.

Ed O’Reilly, though, seems to care about the people of Massachusetts — all of us — and to relish meeting us, listening to our concerns. He seems to be champing at the bit to do everything a U.S. Senator can to address them.

This time, I’d like to elect a full-time junior Senator.

I appreciate your support for your candidate. And I have heard many issues people have with John Kerry but I have to admit – I don’t understand your “I’d like to elect a full-time” Senator comment. I don’t think I have ever heard anyone accuse Kerry of not doing his job full time.

BTW, could you explain your statement:
<

“Recently, when 5 or 6 police officers arrested a student before Kerry’s eyes and tased the student for asking Kerry three questions, Kerry was speaking down at the University of Florida.”

I don’t understand the sentence nor its relevence to any discussion about the candidates for US Senate in Mass.

… of becoming President. That’s why he was in Florida and not in Massachusetts. He hasn’t put himself in front of live questions or a debate in Massachusetts for quite a while. Natick last Spring is the last I recall him in state in front of questioners. (And he almost caused a riot there, too; but that’s another story. The Natick security were cooler than FL.)

As for not doing his job: the most recent egregious example was his non-vote and non-participation in the FISA vote, where he abandoned the effort to stop the Bush/Cheney violation of our Constitutional rights to privacy and protection from unreasonable search and seizure. He left town to go to a charity bike ride. No excuse for that, in my opinion.

So now you’ve heard someone accuse Kerry of not doing his job full time. (BTW, I’m not the only one who criticized him for that non-vote. The blogs were hot for days afterward.)
