In my last post I showed where there may be a a crack in Tsongas’ labor support. Striker57 tried to show why there isn’t. Within minutes I received an anonymous email from a member of the Merrimack Valley Labor Council. It was a forward of an email by prominent Merrimack Valley Labor Organizer Carly Moscowitz. Here is that email.
Hi MVCLC:
Niki Tsongas’s campaign is not doing so well. We have the opportunity to turn this around when we reach out to union members on Sunday from …….. in Billerica and Methuen. We are meeting at …………………..in Lowell for maps and instructions. Please email or call me to let me know that you can make it.

A man must work in order to live. If he can express no control over his conditions of employment, he is subject to involuntary servitude” (S.R. 163,72d Cong., 1st Sess., p. 9).
It looks like there isn’t a crack it’s more like a sustained leak and labor’s trying to prime the bilge pump.
and good organizers know how to motivate. You don’t get volunteers out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with an email that says “it’s in the bank but come out anyway”. And thankfully, Organized Labor learned long ago not to take any election for granted.

So Eabo, my union sent out two mailings in the last seven days for Niki (the last will arrive on Monday). On election day, volunteers from my union will call every member of the union in the 5th CD to remind them to vote. In your view this is panic. In my view its winning politics 101. You do the basics, keep your head down and work and never believe polls.
<

In the last two months, following that plan, candidates (endorsed by my union and in at least one case by the Massachusetts AFL-CIO) Anthony Galluccio, Carlo Basile and Mark Ciommo have won special elections and a primary.

Niki Tsongas by 8%.

Now please take a break, I am trying to salvage my fantasy football team lineup before 1 PM and get my butt out to door-knock for Tsongas
EaBo, is there any straw you won’t grasp at?

Obviously, Niki’s campaign isn’t doing so well. If it were, it wouldn’t be a 9-point lead but rather a 29-point lead. This is Massachusetts, where we’re accustomed to Republican congressional candidates getting thrashed — if they bother to show up at all.
<
p>
But now recognizing reality means there’s a “split in labor support for Niki”. I realize that the idea of a congressional election where the Democrat merely soundly beats the Republican is new for us. That doesn’t mean that the election is even competitive (strange how your one-many hype band doesn’t match with Niki’s 9-point lead in the poll). And I’m sure after election day, you’ll be here trumpeting how Tsongas’ eight-ten point victory is actually a loss.
9 to 10 points? Sounds close to me and I smell a little panic on the left as this one is going to be close. IMO the one with the most voters who show up will win…. two things at work here:
The dems are probably figuring ho hum another repub thrashing so why should I bother?…and meanwhile the indys and repubs are sick and tired of 33 years of the same old crap and are energized enough to actually go and vote.
While this is the People’s Republik and the likelyhood of a conservative winning are small, there still may be enough people left that haven’t moved to North Carolina yet for a spectacular upset. we’ll see Tuesday.
I’ll respond to you. Show me a link where pollin gsaid this was a “runaway rout”. After the primary, Ogo was down by 10 points. Now, it’s 9. At this rate, he’ll take the lead sometime in June of 2008.
on this thread that OGO is bucolic buffoon and will be “routed’.
Talk ‘polls” all you want…I’m waiting for the ultimate poll on Tuesday
A dem site bashes a repulican.

Sorry that BMG is not fair and balanced like your proposed White(power) Mass Group or Fox News.
What does White have to do with this? Your comments are clearly racist. Please obey the posting rules here.
…hate mongering, useless commenters like you, “Asa”.
I suggest that you consider your own racial slurs and personal attacks before you criticize others. You are a disgrace to BMG
…your so sweet. đŸ˜‰
if you are going to present yourself as a progressive, then “walk the talk” and cease the racial slurs.
For those who don’t know (which doesn’t include Asa here), the suggestion was made in the past on RedMassGroup that this state needs a “White Mass Group” because the GOP here isn’t far enough to the right. That’s the genesis of the reference.
Did you miss the reference in attempting to spin its meaning otherwise?
Apparently the rules here don’t apply to everyone equally.
I did find this from Vote3rdpartynow back on 8/28/2007 (you guys, gals and transgenders may recognize the name, Vote3rdpartynow used to be a BMGer before he was kicked out for not following the “Rules Of The Road”). http://www.redmassgr… “First we had Blue Mass Group. Then we had Red Mass Group. Maybe it's time for White Mass Group for disgruntled ex-Democrats and Ex-Republicans. Then we would be complete with Red White and Blue Mass Group websites. – Your thoughts?”
Nice try Sabutai, Your BS may work on fifth graders . . . .
That explains the string of non-sequitors. I continue to wonder why anyone would bother reading RedMass Group. Indeed, for a long time I thought it was a blog for people who are very enthusiastic about a Mass celebrated for lawyers and jurists. Then I read it, and found it unenlightening. Then I ceased reading it.
…is in the last throes of the Tsongas insurgency. Ogo can cease major campaign operations. Mission accomplished.
This could have been combined with the last post. I can’t wait until this election is over – one way or another we won’t have to read Eabo’s incessant, nagging Ogo campaign spam:
<
p>
“Niki Tsongas’s former cousin’s brother-in-law sneezed in the general direction of Lt Colonel Jim Ogonowski. This was disrespectful. This means Niki is a scumbag and purveyor of the lowest form of politics. The Democrats have hit an all time low. Disgusting.”
<
p>
There should be a rule about the bombardment of non-analysis, cut and paste Republican campaign spam. If I wanted to read Ogo campaign propaganda, I’d just go to his website. Oh, wait…you can’t find stuff on his website.
that he hasn’t figured out how to work in the pet phrase “nanny state” in all of this other tripe. guess he’s too busy being nanny to ogo’s apparently quite fragile feelings.
if you hurry, you can still sign up to help last friday. and there is apparently still need for your efforts yesterday. their press release section hasn’t been updated since oct 5th. this tells me that if the campaign had an IT person, that person already ditched weeks ago. the alternate explanations are too sad to commit to pixels.
…but I’ll see what I can do this Wednesday.
