Description of Services
The Finance Commission conducts
investigations into all matters it deems appropriate.
The Commission hires independent staff who conduct many of the
investigations, with the Commission publishing and
presenting all final reports.
The Finance Commission also reviews, and if necessary investigates all
contracts referred to it and reports its findings and
recommendations to the Mayor.

Investigations Contract Review
Program Description
The Finance Commission investigates matters relating to
appropriations, loans, expenditures, accounts, and
methods of administration affecting the City of Boston or
Suffolk County, or any department thereof
which the Commission determines requires investigation.
The Commission reports its findings to the Mayor,
the City Council, and the general public.
