Kennedy has surgery on blocked artery in neck
By Glen Johnson, AP Political Writer | October 12, 2007
BOSTON –Sen. Edward M. Kennedy underwent surgery Friday to repair a nearly complete blockage in a major neck artery, a discovery made during a routine examination of a decades-old back injury.
The hourlong procedure on his left carotid artery — a main supplier of blood to the face and brain — was performed at Massachusetts General Hospital by Dr. Richard Cambria, the hospital’s chief of vascular surgery. The 75-year-old Kennedy suffered no complications and was expected to be released over the weekend, Cambria said.

That can’t have been fun. Rest up, and I’m sure you’ll be back on the Senate floor in no time.

Nice. So, what commoner accessible health plan are you on, Senator?

So I am not sure what the point of your posted question was. My health plan allows regular exams and I imagine I would be talking to my doctor about an old and nagging injury.

The health coverage for US Senators, Congressmen and Federal officers is very documented (Cheney has been running up taxpayer funded bills for years now) and Kennedy has always championed health care access (and been slammed for it by the right wing). Not so Bush, Chaney or the Repub leadership.

Personally I hope he get the best care possible -I hate to think what progressives lose when we lose Ted Kennedy.

for universal health care access longer and more consistently than anyone. Good point Stryker.

Also people should know that the MGH vascular surgery team provide outstanding care for some of the poorest in Massachusetts. If a person with no insurance needed this surgery they would do it.

I assume you’ll strongly back Hillary Clinton’s call to allow any uninsured American to buy into the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (which covers Ted and every other congressman).

We await your endorsement.
