Lowell is a third baseman and A-Rod is a natural shortstop.

I would not want to see a Red Sox Championship any season where A-Rod wore a Sox uniform.

…but with some ESPN reports saying that A-Rod is looking for a contract worth a total of $350 million (!), I’d rather see the Sox spend the dough to keep Lowell and then trade for and then sign Johan Santana to a long-term contract.

Santana would make the Sox a dominant team, more so than A-Rod would — and plus, I’ve always liked Santana since I had him in his first year of dominance as a starter and he led my fantasy baseball team to victory đŸ˜‰
Days after the Boston Red Sox completed their four-game sweep to win the 2007 World Series, Colorado Rockies players dressed in full uniform were still standing on the field experiencing various degrees of shock. “We?we?we were winning lots of games? And then? Then we were losing all these games? Because the Red Sox came and hit and hit and hit and they didn’t, they didn’t stop?” said Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs, pointing at the left field wall with a shaking and dirty finger before turning, pointing at the right field wall, and repeating the words he has been speaking nonstop since Sunday night. “They hit here, and here, and through the gap there, and they? Oh, God, what happened? What the f–k just happened to us?” Rockies team officials released an erratically worded, hand-scrawled statement today saying they would address any psychological issues just as soon as the World Series is over.

A-Rod, not so much.

He’s a great player, but as pointed out in that new blog, when the pressure is on, A-Rod folds.
I wouldn’t consider him “an incredibly dominant player” at least not when it matters most. He disappeared again this year in the post season.

Beyond the 350 Million reasons why I wouldn’t want him on the Sox, there’s the “chemistry” factor. After Pedroia and Ellsbury (among other young players) performed so well, I read where Ellsbury had said how much he appreciated the veteran players on the Sox not “big league-ing” him, that is helping him get acclimated, and not snubbing him because of his inexperience. Lowell is always mentioned as a very classy guy, who’s great with younger players. That’s not something I’ve ever heard anyone say about A-Rod.

We could use an additional top notch starting pitcher

tonight. The commentator mentioned with so much going on in Boston sport —we are forgetting that we have very good college football team in town.

BC’s run is done. They were playing above their ability on the back of Matty Heisman as John Metaparel calls him. Last night showed they just aren’t that good. FSU dominated them, and Matty made some big mistakes.
