According to a Cape Cod Times article:
The Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) wants to build a commercial casino in Southeastern Massachusetts, a move that would pit them directly against the state’s only other federally recognized tribe.
Recently I blogged that all communities were at risk for hosting a casino as the corporate casino sharks circle Massachusetts sniffing for blood.
The Aquinnah have looked at “Freetown, Lakeville, and land close to New Bedford and Fall River”. That puts just about every town south of Boston firmly in the at-risk column.
As CasinoFacts.org and now CasinoFreeMass.org have been saying – all towns in Massachusetts are at risk. Southeastern Massachusetts seems to have two big red bulls eyes painted on it as the Aquinnah have stated a preference for a rural location. Meanwhile the Mashpee Wampanaug casino fun bus continues to lurch down the highway.
So no matter where you live, if you thought it might be nice to have a casino a bit closer than Connecticut …. you’re in luck. It might be a lot closer than you think.
And ask yourself this: If Connecticut can support the two largest casinos in the world within nine miles of each other – why can’t the same thing happen in some part of Massachusetts?

is far too close.
The moral climate is bad enough here adding another vice will just add to the level of corruption tolerated in government.

if you wish to contaminate the South Shore, then so be it!
