My understanding is that PCAs are hired by the consumer and paid by the consumer, or else paid by Medicaid at about $11 per hour.

If they unionize, with whom does the union negotiate?

I thought the unions were increasingly trying to prevent potential members from voting on whether to join unions.

The idea was instead to convince them in 1-on-1 meetings to sign cards, and if the union got enough cards, boom, union. No vote.

Didn’t that get signed into law by our Gov? Or does that only apply to public employees?

I may be mistaken, but the narrator’s voice sounds quite a bit like FayeRuth Fisher, a talented organizer who’s been working with the labor movement for years now. I know her. Like most of the folks at SEIU, she’s the kind of person you can rely on — the kind you want on your side. Hope it’s an announcement of a big victory tomorrow!
