The New York Observer has a story about the WNBC reporter and the list in question, which I linked to.
<
p>I think we’ll get more on this. Was the list a hoax? Or was the list an early draft of George Mitchell’s?
<
p>Certainly the WNBC reporter’s comments, if taken at face value, suggest the latter — a real list, created by Mitchell, who lated decided to omit certain players from his final report who were steroid users but, for whatever reasons, didn’t hit a certain threshold of evidence (example — they had testimony from dealers, but no Fed Ex receipts).
<
p>I thought I handled it okay — once the Mitchell report came out, I updated the post. But Bob made a reasonable decision to just delete the thing, since the title had a Boston player’s name.
<
p>He also emailed me to let me know, and answered a question I asked about deleting versus editing the post. All kosher.
