Obama picked up another endorsement from the MA delegation today. Rep. Capuano announced that he is supporting the Senator’s Presidential campaign.

Obama clearly saved up all his endorsements for this week, as they’re coming in across the country. Hillary already spent most of hers months ago to seem inevitable.

p>He has a real shot in Massachusetts…

I will be very impressed if he can overcome that huge Hillary lead. I also expect to be impressed.

Endorsement logo above doesn’t have the red color Bob’s does? Is there a metaphor somewhere…red being the color of passion and all that?
david says
for some reason when I pasted the logo (which started out the same as Bob’s) onto the graphic for my name, the red color disappeared. I decided not to try to fix it, for exactly the reason you state — it seems emblematic of the different degrees of enthusiasm in the two endorsements.

Of course you are allowed not to have strong feelings but politics (like sports) is harder to enjoy when you don’t feel it. Its like watching the Super Bowl without the Pats in it – never as fun.

p>I have seen to much plastic, pom-pom rhetoric; parroting the Clinton campaign talking points.
<
p>If I had my druthers, I would have you “go tell it on the mountain”, but if that is where you’re at, we cool.
sabutai says
Figured David’s endorsement was “paler” than Bob’s. Hopefully Obama visits this site and realized that nobody’s voting for Hillary, and continues to ignore us…

I believe Delahunt has already committed to Obama. I would bet a week’s pay that Fast Eddy will follow the path of least resistance. Barney may stay on the fence for a while.
Clinton will likely lose MA. No doubt the Clinton camp is in shock!

And no way Eddie Markey gets into this. Not worth it.

Ted’s endorsement doesn’t move me. Sorry. If we all used his line of thinking on the endorsement: “We need new energy. We need someone who can bring people together. People are basically saying that they want to new day and a new generation,” The dear old Senator “grandpa” Kennedy would be out on his rearend.
<
p>I am voting for Hillary. The last thing we need is another inexperienced, but clever orator in the big chair. We’ve played that game before, and I’m not getting sucked into the “soaring rhetoric” of change. (cue up the violins) None of it makes up for the lack of experience. If Obama gets the nomination, then I will likely support another party/candidate.

How do you read the value of Hillary’s experience when arguably the two most important tasks/responsibilities she was entrusted with in those 35 years she touts — health reform in 93 and a vote on whether or not to authorize war in Iraq – she failed to come through on?
<
p>I’m sincerely trying to understand how those who take to heart the experience argument reconcile this.
justice4all says
is the right qualifier. You’re really going to hold Hillary responsible for the demise of the healthcare bill when the blame can be split in oh, so many directions? And voting for the Iraq war is something given the times, the (compromised) data, and the support of both parties – is somehow only Hillary’s fault? BS on that.
am says
YES Hillary is responsible for her vote to go to war. Do you think that just because other people fell for the march to war drum beat that she is not to be held accountable for a mistake of that magnitude?
<
p>And a resounding YES she is responsible for managing a poorly run health care reform effort in 1993. Sure, Ira Magaziner and company helped, but that was her project. And for someone who already had, let’s see, 35 minus 15 is 20, “twenty years of fighting for change” wow, that is a mess-up I wouldn’t want on my CV.
<
p>Out of curiosity, if you don’t think health reform and the war were her two biggest charges of responsibility, what would be your top two?

<
p>… about Abraham Lincoln. I’m not saying he’s Lincoln, but the experience card isn’t enough for me. I’ve had the “Clinton experience.” It wasn’t enough to make me yearn for more.
justice4all says
and that’s a fact. The fact remains is that he’s a fifteen minute Senator. I yearn for more, too. I yearn for someone who can steer this rudderless ship. This country is in a mess right now. Do we really want the new kid on the block at the helm? He’s wonderful at “speechifying” – you can’t take that away from him. But he’s got a very thin resume, and quite frankly, if the Clinton “experience” was “enough” for you, how do you feel about Rezko? It must be like “Back to the Future,” no?
sethjp says
… that tagging “and that’s a fact” on to the end of your opinions doesn’t make them facts.
<
p>As for whether Obama is another Lincoln, in one respect he’s certainly not: he actually has more legislative experience than Lincoln did.
<
p>What kind of president will he be? Only time will tell … and that’s a fact.
justice4all says
It’s bad enough that he’s being compared to JFK, now we have people who compare him to Lincoln. So, Seth, the fact is that Abraham Lincoln had eight years of legislative experience in the Illinois legislature and rode the court circuit for years. He also served a single term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Additionally, he was an attorney for nearly 25 years before assuming the presidency.
ed-prisby says
Legislative experience: check.
One term in Washington: check.
Lawyer: Check.
<
p>As soon as I posted that last one, I knew there’d be some jackass saying that I said Obama was Lincoln. Which I did not. But that didn’t stop you from taking it that way. The fact is, Obama doesn’t have a real long resume, and if that’s what your looking for, go vote for Clinton. I’m looking for a once-in-a-generation opportunity to do something special in Washington. I think Barack’s the guy.
<
p>As for Rezko, give me a break. Thanks for lower the total IQ quotient of this blog by about 20 points. Take your “Ben Laguer” BS someplace else.
justice4all says
You’ve been throwing punches left and right on behalf of your candidate. Calm yourself. You inject Lincoln in a time-honored rhetorical flourish…like many attorneys I know. You just hated be called on it.
<
p>The Rezko thing is what it is…so if you want to throw mud (formerly right wing mud, I might add) then you’re going to have to expect it back in kind. It appears your candidate isn’t nearly as virginal as you want him to be.
sethjp says
You admit that Licoln only had 10 years of legislative experience–less than Obama.
<
p>For what it’s worth, I’m not trying to say Obama is the next Lincoln. Nor do I have a problem with you not wanting to vote for Barack. You certainly don’t have to “drink the coolaid”, in my opinion. Just please try to take it easy with the “the fact is … ” followed by you’re opinion of the man. It’s just a bit too FOX-TV for me.
bean-in-the-burbs says
For several years longer than Hillary. If experience is really what you care about, HRC arguably isn’t the most experienced.
sabutai says
Has been auditor of Massachusetts for over 20 years. Nobody is suggesting that he run for president.
<
p>We’re talking relevant experience, and you’re better standing on the sidelines at the top level than making speeches in empty chambers. Hillary Clinton (and Abe Lincoln) were familiar with the top level…Obama, not so much.
bean-in-the-burbs says
At least the other person in this thread who’s so enamored of the Hillary experience talking point compared Obama to another state legislator.
<
p>Silly me, to think that understanding from direct experience how legislative politics work at both the state and federal levels might be useful for a president to know!
<
p>Hillary’s starting her eighth year in the US senate to Obama’s fourth. And what are her big legislative accomplishments in that extra term? This NYT article doesn’t seem to think there were any.
<
p>I don’t get the allure of the Hillary experience talking point – I think it’s a brazen attempt to rebrand HRC’s weakness as a strength. Both of the remaining Democrats, and one of the Republicans, have short political resumes. If a long political resume is really what turns your crank, the only candidate left who really has one is McCain.
bean-in-the-burbs says
Reszko’s stay in the Lincoln bedroom when Bill was in office?
john-from-lowell says
I’m for Obama. Don’t sling that BS unless you got proof.
<
p>We may be loose and fast in the blogscape, but some things spin out of control.
<
p>Seeing that I would love to bag the Clintons playing footsy with Rezko, you just got my hopes up.
<
p>The Clintons are notorious, even among Democrats. This fixation of painting Obama as Clinton-lite is ill conceived. They can harp away at us about the pot calling the kettle black. We just sit back, disturbed at how you just refuse to get it.
<
p>The Clinton rap sheet is a mile long, so Obama’s tea pot to Clinton’s Blast Furnace Iron Smelter is no friggin comparison.
bean-in-the-burbs says
and referenced the Lincoln bedroom on one of his NewsNight programs on NECN last week. Don’t know the back up for the Lincoln bedroom, but I did find a link for the photo. I don’t want to make too much of this – the money in politics stinks and every pol has contributors that aren’t too savory – my point was just that the HRC minions are living in a glass house and should be careful about throwing “Obama has an unsavory contributor” stones. You can’t have been in politics as long as the Clintons without having had quite a few of the same sort of contributors – even the self-same individuals –

Curtatone endorsed Hilary from Kelly’s Diner on the Fox 25 morning news. He also predicted Somerville will go for Hil.
<
p>What do people think? How many voters does Fox 25 morning reach vs. press of Capuano’s endorsement? Congressman vs. Mayor in an epic battle for Somerville (a critical super tuesday region if ever there was one)?
sethjp says
I didn’t think it was possible for this race to get any more exciting and then you tell me this?! Good God! I probably shouldn’t ask, but what do the polls say about Meh’fud? đŸ˜‰

Congressman usually calls the shots on where the caucus site will be if they support a certain candidate, so can we look for an Obama 8th District caucus at Somerville High?
