Of all the talk about Health Care in both GOP and Dems Debate only Pro Life, Anti Gay Marriage Mike really nailed the problem with explosive costs. He spoke of a system that waits till you are catastrophically ill and then needs to spend billions to cure people rather than creating one that works to support preventive Health care (as in Diet, environment and exercise etc) In Rachel Carson pivotal work “Silent Spring” she notes that at the turn of the previous century (begining of the 1900’s) Children’s cancer was virtually unheard of. At the time of writing her treatise there were now hospitals dedicated to curing children’s cancer. That was 45 years ago and the epidemic has continued. In the “I am gong to fight the corporate greed” of the Dems Debate or the Dance around the subject the GOP engaged in, Huckabee’s clear thinking stood out. Although I struggle mightily with him on social issues it is just that kind of clear thinking that gives him a far broader appeal than just writing him off as the “Evangelical guy”. Mittphony and the other GOP wannabees have reason to be concerned with his rise as should the Dems.

… the universality of Medicare kicks in late in life means that insurers who cover you before you are on Medicare have a perverse incentive to hold off cheaper treatments (as well as preventative measures) so that Medicare can pick up the tab for the inevitable complications down the road.
