Susan Lovelace, current chair of the Arlington School Committee, who pulled papers to run for state representative, has thrown her support behind Jeff Thielman. Here’s her email of support for Jeff:
Dear Friends,
I am writing to invite you to join me in supporting JEFF THIELMAN for State Representative by voting for him in the FEBRUARY 5th Primary!
Of the three Democratic candidates running for the 23rd Middlesex Representative office, I believe strongly that Jeff is the best choice.
What distinguishes Jeff Thielman? LEADERSHIP – NOT JUST TALK! Jeff not only listens, he knows how to lead and do the hard work required to create real change.
After chairing a meeting or hosting a forum, Jeff doesn’t simply make a phone call or point out that an issue exists, he puts in the long hours needed to develop real solutions that have real measurable outcomes.
The legislature is diverse group of strong personalities and Arlington needs a representative who can:
– Digest and synthesize large amounts of complex information in a short amount of time;
– Draft specific action plans and legislation to address problems that include budgetary and policy implications for both our local community and the state as a whole;
– Gain the respect and confidence of House leadership and fellow legislators in order to move forward any policy or budget proposals.Jeff is the only candidate that meets those requirements.
Why listen to me?
– I’ve worked in the MA State Legislature and know what kinds of skills are needed to understand and negotiate budgetary and policy compromises.
– I’ve directed a statewide public policy and advocacy organization and understand what legislators face in serving the multiple demands of their constituents and the experience they must have in working on complex issues that do not have easy answers.
– I’ve served for the past three years with both Jeff and Sean on the Arlington School Committee and have first hand knowledge of their work ethic and ability to move forward a progressive agenda.Please join me in supporting Jeff Thielman for state Representative by voting for him in the primary on February 5th and the general election on March 4th.
All the best in 2008,
Susan Lovelace

Amen, Susan.

p>I am also proud to support Jeff in his campaign for Representative for the 23rd Middlesex District (Arlington and West Medford).
<
p>When I heard that Jim Marzilli would be our new State Senator, I emailed Jeff Thielman and urged him to run for Jim’s former position as State Representative. Jeff truly wants to do this job for us, and for the right reasons.
<
p>Over his years on the School Committee, I have come to know Jeff Thielman as a thoughtful listener, an energetic and courageous leader, a progressive thinker, and a coalition-builder. He’s bilingual (Spanish) and well-traveled. Jeff does his homework, and he is present and accounted for whenever there are important issues at stake in the community. Jeff Thielman will have the courage to act on his convictions on behalf of his constituents.
<
p>If you live in the 23rd district, and whether you’re an Independent, Democrat, Republican, or undecided, contact Jeff Thielman and ask him your toughest questions and/or pledge your support – I am sure he would welcome both.
<
p>There is a kickoff brunch for Jeff on Sunday, January 6th. A fundraiser will be held on Jan. 11, and the primary election is Feb. 5, the same day as the Mass. presidential primary.
