Group Cites Ehrlich’s Strong Commitment to Promoting Renewable Energy and Cleaning Up Power Plants
Boston, MA– The Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters (MLEV), the non-partisan political voice for the environment, announced its endorsement of Lori Ehrlich for the 8th Essex House race today, citing her strong commitment to environmental issues that affect both the commonwealth and Lynn, Marblehead, and Swampscott.
“MLEV is proud to endorse Lori Erhlich, a public servant who understands the need to safeguard the health of our communities,” said MLEV Executive Director Lora Wondolowski. “I believe that Lori will be strong successor to Doug Petersen and add to a growing number of needed environmental leaders on Beacon Hill.”
Lori Erhlich will be following in the footsteps of former Representative Doug Petersen, who was a strong environmental leader for this district. In her MLEV questionnaire, Ms. Erhlich cited protecting air quality by reducing emissions from power plants, promoting renewable energy, and increasing energy efficiency as her top environmental priorities. Ms. Ehrlich has a long history of working with legislators to pass strong environmental laws and will continue this work from within the State House.
“I am delighted to have received the endorsement of the Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters. In the absence of federal leadership, state governments have a very important role to play in making progress towards a healthier and more sustainable future. Energy efficiency and alternative energy are now clearly linked to everything from public health, global warming and national security-all issues important to the voters in this district,” said Ehrlich.

I’ve stayed mostly mum about this campaign that I’m working on, but I will say this: I couldn’t be prouder to work for anyone’s campaign than I have been to work for Lori. She really will be an awesome environmental l e a d e r on Beacon Hill – not to mention other issues, as well.

Our impressive grassroots field operation, headed up by Ryan, is the absolute envy of the other campaigns in this race. We’ve exceeded all of our IDing goals and done it the hard way, making calls, ringing doorbells, and connecting with people on a daily basis–every single evening since Thanksgiving!

p>This endorsement from the Mass League of Environmental Voters is appreciated and hard earned after 10+ years of energy/environmental advocacy. The campaign has also been endorsed by 7 other local, statewide and national organizations highlighting many of my other passionate political concerns.

p>Back to my original theme; the grassroots. I just have to say that having been down here (practically in the dirt) for ten or so years, volunteering, blogging, educating, and learning so much myself, has made for an incredibly productive natural progression into politics. Something you all might want to keep in mind.

p>One week to go! Then (hopefully) the general on March 4th. Onward! Viva the grassroots!
