So now DiMasi has to diss Patrick in dissing Obama. All the insiders just hate it when challenged. DiMasi’s big fat head is the real problem on Beacon Hill – I may agree with him on casinos but think he is genuinely lazy and would rather kow-tow to business honchos then actually work with the Governor. To the quote from State House News:
Answering a reporter’s question about voters judgments of the friendship and similar rhetoric between Obama and Gov. Deval Patrick, DiMasi said, “I think Massachusetts will look at it to find out what they can see in Obama with respect to what they did in their vote for Gov. Patrick” DiMasi, during a press conference on behalf of Hillary Clinton, said, “I might have been a little critical at the beginning about saying that someone without any experience in government, who doesn’t have the ability to understand the legislative process, was someone who had to learn a lot. And to be perfectly honest I really don’t want my president to be in there in a learning process for the first six months to a year. It’s too important an election, it’s critical.” Asked how he would judge Patrick’s first year as a barometer for Obama’s chances, DiMasi replied, “I say that the Legislature did a great job.”
I just love how “complex” legislators think the “legislative process” is – and how it is only those with years of experience in Government who can understand it. But, let’s think about, our two lamest Governors over the past few years have probably been Cellucci and Swift – both of whom had been State Senators. Dukakis, whom I consider to be our best governor of the past 30 years, served as State Rep. before being elected Governor – and he proceeded to lose his first re-election because he had horrible relations with his former colleagues.
So given this record it seems like those who actually served in the legislature have been worse than those who hadn’t once they assumed executive power.
What is so complex about the legislative process that DiMasi is referring too? They keep saying this about Patrick but never say what they mean. My hunch is that they really mean he didn’t kiss their asses enough. Patrick certainly could have managed relations better with the leg but I think their own massive sense of their self-importance is the real problem on Beacon Hill. Most legislators run unopposed every two years and feel untouchable.
He can go fuck himself.

But I entirely share your feelings.

is very ignorant. Herr is simply the German word for Mr. and other similar terms.
Which I guess he’s done a pretty good job at. Any hint of equitable taxes for corporations seems to earn his scorn. This attitude may or may not be based on good-faith concerns about MA’s economic health- whatever it proceeds from I think it is an exaggerated and stubborn stance.
