At some point soon, I think the Clinton over-aggression will lose it for them. It is just a question of when. They seem to think that attack is the only mode at this point. But at what point is there a widerspread backlash by the public, reminded daily at all they don’t like about the Clintons. In taking it this far they are playing a really risky game. Here from ABC news is a story about the Clintons beating the Reagan Republican idea thing despite knowing it is false. From the story:
At this point, the Clintons obviously know and don’t care that this is a blatantly false representation of what Obama said, which doesn’t square with the video or transcript of what Obama said.
This has been tirelessly fact-checked by us, the Washington Post, Factcheck.org, Politico, and Politifact.
With unanimity, the charge has been established as false.
And yet the Clintons continue to make it.
The Clinton stategy definitely has put Obama on the defensive over the past weeks, brought him down from his pedestal and baited him to say some things that have not helped his own case. But, at what point does it become overkill. I think they have passed that point and yet they can’t seem to stop themselves – and have got the media riled up, magnifying and sending round the world every new attack from them. Dangerous game.
