Either way, it’s clear that we are in for a long campaign to the convention. Edwards kept his head above 15% and got delegates, which will make him a player at the convention. I expect that Edwards will continue to poll around that level for many February 5 states.
The big question is whether the Clintons have burned enough bridges to alienate the party faithful in addition to the independents who were already skeptical of them (at best). We’ll see in about 10 days.
Meanwhile, it’s an interesting contrast between campaign strategies. While Hillary goes for the 50% + 1 strategy with a “divide and conquer” tactic meant to suppress the vote, Barack Obama has turned it around to use an entirely new strategy: “Unite and Conquer!”
