Quite a stunning observation from Bob Geldof.
Even the Washington Post carries the story but without the kind quotes from Sir Robert, the selective filtering caused, no doubt, by Bush Derangement Syndrome.
Also afflicted with BDS is the NYT which omitted any quote from Geldof. But they did say Congress felt Bush has not done enough:
Mr. Bush is also facing questions about whether he is putting his money where his mouth is. His $15 billion, five-year initiative to fight global H.I.V. and AIDS is up for reauthorization, and he has asked for $30 billion over the next five years. But Democrats and advocates for AIDS patients say that is not enough. They are calling for $50 billion.
Stingy bastard!

p>…Bush slashes AIDS funding by $20 billion!

It’s not like the bar was set high.

p>In fairness, I’ve heard others echo this, and it with out being informed on the subject, people will probably point to one of the few thing Bush didn’t suck that bad on. I do know there is an issue about abstinence only and faith-based programs that are problematic to sum. All in all, I’m willing to remain open minded that Bush’s policies accomplished much good in Africa.

p>I’ll withhold final judgement until I read a more thorough analysis than Mr. Geldof’s one-liner.
