he already has received the votes of >80% LA blacks. clinton can’t take any demographic for granted at this point, so even though the event is in a state that’s already voted, she needs to be there if nothing else to reinvigorate her message of commitment to solving problems faced by blacks in general (that would include people living in TX and OH).

p>i also wonder if this is an attempt by obama to avoid more labeling as the “black president”, which many want to pin on him. if that is the case, imo he needs to rise above others’ labels and participate in the forum, because he is indeed getting many votes partly because he is black, and he has made himself a black leader be appealing directly to black audiences and issues. i think it is a mistake for him to skip this forum. i wonder if we’ll hear of primary voters remorse?
Smiley has been vocal about his disapproval of Obama’s decision.
“I think it’s a missed opportunity on Mr. Obama’s part,” Smiley told CNN. “Now, I am not interested in demonizing him for his choice, but I do disagree with it.”
But Smiley’s criticism has also prompted many people to come to Obama’s defense. The talk show host told The Washington Post he has been inundated with angry e-mails and even death threats.
“I have family in Indianapolis. They are harassing my momma, harassing my brother. It’s getting to be crazy,” Smiley told the newspaper. /
That’s just crazy, don’t you think?

what would happen if Obama didn’t get the nomination??
with Obama’s apparent decision not to show. Perhaps there is more to this than appears, and perhaps if I learn more I might be disabused of my current opinion but, on the face of it, I don’t believe it’s the best decision.
<
p>However, separate from any decision by Obama, Big Kudos to Senator Clinton for her willingness to appear before what will probably be a polite but politically unsupportive audience. Shows guts, poise, and grace. As long as she stays in this race (and you know I am an Obama supporter) she shouldn’t concede any constituency. Good for her.

Not sure exactly what you are suggesting by your subject line.
