The Lowell Sun reported today that Senator Pam Resor plans to step down from the Senate at the end of her term. See the article here.
Tonight, Jamie Eldridge held a fundraiser in Boxborough, with Gov. Patrick and Sen. Resor in attendance. Jamie also made the rounds of the caucuses on Saturday. I would expect an announcement from him at any moment, as he’s been running in all but name for some time now.
As one of her constituents, I want to honor her here as an able, honest, and courageous public servant. She has a long record of activism on environmental issues, of able advocacy for education, and I will never forget her speech on the floor of the first constitutional convention to consider same sex marriage. She stood up and was counted as a champion for equality. She was one of the targets of Mitt Romney’s campaign to pick off legislators in Metro West. Hundreds of volunteers raised money for her, canvassed for her, and made sure she was reelected. It was a small measure of repayment for all she did over the years for her constituents.
Pam Resor served her district well for nine years. I wish her all the best. Jamie Eldridge will be a worthy successor, so let the campaign begin.
Extra points for stepping down at the end of her term! đŸ™‚
….. were like Pam I might have registered as one. Kudos to a remarkable career and a great loss in the state house for the environmental advocates. Jamie will be a good replacement but Pam is exceptional and I know we all will look forward to her continued efforts in what ever environmental advocacy group that gets her. I would guess the offers are pouring in.
Pam Resor has been a tremendous State Senator for the district, and deserves our thanks.
