Earlier this week, Rep. Geoff Hall announced he would not seek reelection to the seat he has held for 18 years. The district, comprised of Westford, Littleton, and part of Chelmsford is a prime target for a GOP pickup in the next election. The GOP candidate is Paul Avella, a personable Littletonian who currently is the Vice-Chairman of the School Committee.
Today, Jim Arciero announced his run for the Democratic nod for the seat. Arciero is currently Sen. Panagiotakis’ Legislative Director. Here’s the Lowell Sun story on the race: Senator’s Aide Will Run for Rep Seat.
Does anyone know much about Arciero? Avella’s been working hard already and has a bit of a war chest for the run.

at least Lynne’s sidekick, Mimi, seems to approve. I’m not a fan of Panagiotakis, but I’d keep an open mind on Arciero. I’d just want to know where he stands on marriage, casinos and other issues that Panagiotakis is on the wrong side of.

He certainly knows the issues and the people, and I gather he is well-liked and respected. He has been a regular face at political events up this way for some time representing Senator Panagiotakos.
