Was it something I said?!?!?!?
I twice tonight have posted remarks regarding Hillary, on a “promoted by David” dairy. They seem to be missing in action. Once, I could understand, but TWICE?
Just wondering (the first time). Just beginning to understand the reality of underhandness (the second time).
Being aware that I ocassionally piss off some of you as a conservative voice crying in the liberal wilderness is part of the reality of being a conservative voice. Having my posts removed by someone unknown to me is a totally incredible experience oon this blog.
Censorship went away in 1776. Get REAL!
Best,
Chuck

….another “conservative” who hasn’t read the Constitution.
<
p>Censorship is an action by the government, not private actors. Enough people giving your moronic rants zero ratings is a democratic process voting you off the island.
<
p>Oh, and btw – nothing happend in 1776 to outlaw censorship. The Constitution was ratified in 1787 but the bill or rights wasn’t ratified until 1791.
<
p>Here’s a suggestion – get your easily verifiable facts straight before you post next time.
<
p>Maybe you could spend less time whining and more time reading???
<
p>Just a thought…..

<
p>I think you’re confusing censorship with 1st Amendment protections.
<
p>Anyone, including private actors, can censor something or someone.
anthony says
…noting…the author made a deliberate reference to 1776 implying he was talking about rights provided by the government.
<
p>I, unlike the author, understand the Constitution.
mr-weebles says
What does 1776 have to do with the First Amendment?
<
p>The Bill of Rights was written in 1789.
<
p>Perhaps you don’t understand the Constitution as well as you think.

Chuck. If you get enough zeros – the post gets hidden. Look on your menu on the left sidebar, and see “hidden comments.” And there is where you will find your comments. Everybody knows how it works.
<
p>That said – there are some people who do abuse the system. There are a couple of punitive little zealots who will give you a zero simply because the don’t agree with you. That doesn’t mean you should censor yourself; I write what I think, forces be damned.
<
p>And don’t flatter yourself about being the “conservative voice crying in the liberal wilderness.” You have very good company with Eabo, Peter and a few others. I’m just keeping it real for ya.

When I clicked “hidden comments” just now I got only one from 2008, by chimpschump. Can comments disappear without going on the hidden comments list?
mr-lynne says
… hidden comments, it only reveals hidden threads that contain comments by you that were hidden as a result of the parent comment getting hidden.
<
p>So if a thread branch that you didn’t comment on at all becomes hidden, it isn’t available to you.
<
p>At least I think thats the way it works.
david says
because the editors can delete them.
mr-lynne says
…
If someone creates a link to the hidden thread does it work for people who don’t have comments in the hidden section?
mr-lynne says
Here is a hidden thread where your name doesn’t show up:
<
p>http://vps28478.inmotionhosting.com/~bluema24/showC…
<
p>Does the link work?
davemb says
That link gives me the name of the thread (twice) and nothing else.
<
p>That’s the same thread where the one 2008 comment shows up on the “hidden comments” list (also by chimpschump). But none of those “hidden comments” appear to have anything to do with me.
<
p>Is it possible that all but one of the comments rated less than 0.5 (or whatever) since the start of this year have been deleted by the authorities? Not that I’m complaining — I would have troll-rated most or all of the “hidden comments” still left on that list myself, and if the ones deleted were more egregious in some way then it was probably wise to delete them.
<
p>I know about the collateral damage to threads following a deleted comment — I have in the past said some very clever (and of course totally inoffensive) things in response to trolls and then had them wiped from existence with the troll’s original comment. This is one of the many risks in replying to trolls and I accept it.
mr-lynne says
…
<
p>the link I gave you, when I click on it, shows the entire thread at the point the branch was ‘pruned’. In addition to that I even see old schoozombie thread branch prunings in my hidden comments. If they were permenantly deleting some stuff as a rule, they haven’t gotten to my corner of BMG yet and I doubt thats because of any special place I, Chimp, or Zombie hold in their hearts.
mr-lynne says
… be able to ‘turn on’ the hidden comments in a post. Maybe they could do this while disabling replies and comment rating on such hidden branches.

p>Just a thought.
