There has been much discussion regarding a guardian’s decision to move an elderly woman from Fernald to a home in the community. Most of the bloggers are discribing this woman’s past 50 years at Fernald as idealic. Give me a break!
Guardians and family members who have already made the decision to move their loved ones out of Fernald are obviously thrilled. Has anyone ever heard of anyone demanding to go back to Fernald?
Do these caretakers who are so supposely attached to these people, do they follow these people to the community? Of course not. Outside the union protected walls of Fernald, they might have to work for a living.
Let’s face it. Fernald is a pit! Would any of you people outraged at this elderly woman leaving be willing to live there! Doubt it.
Kudos to GBARC for standing up and doing the right thing for this woman. Where ever she is now, the truth is it has to be better than Fernald.
