The local papers report that we will likely have a race for the 4th Middlesex State Senate seat.
Democrats Jack Hurd, James Marzilli and Ken Donnelly had more than the 300 required signatures in Arlington alone, but they will need certification from the Secretary of the Commonwealth before they can appear on the Sept. 16 primary ballot.
Republican candidate and Billerica resident Brion Cangiamila also pulled papers to run for the seat Marzilli has held since his special election victory last year. … The Billerica Town Clerk’s office had not completed certifying Cangiamila’s signatures by Wednesday.

he has had to beat back an extraordinary number of democratic primary challenges in Arlington as state rep and it seems that situation will not change as a state senator.
<
p>About 30 to 40% of the registered democrats in Arlington just have it in for the guy for some entirely inexplicable reason.

This is simply not true.

Actually, Charlie, it’s not about this, as Hurd was running before “this” happened.
<
p>If anything it’s about Marzilli’s weak showing on the northern part of the district in the special primary. The Hurd family is well-known in the district.
<
p>Of course, “this” could become the central issue of the election if it is not resolved first.
<
p>Aside from that, I’d say that Marzilli, as the recently elected incumbent, benefits from multiple opponents (in addition to Hurd).

Don’t bother. Charley’s not big on facts.
<
p>I am stilling trying to get him to tell me if he was serious when he asked me this ridiculous question. I’m ready to answer. I mean, a fifth grader could answer. But if you follow-up the little part of the thread it is actually creepy that he asked this.
<
p>Did Charley speak outside of school?
<
p>That’s what i want to know.
<
p>Way to go Charley.
