Sign Petition For Election Day Registration

Sen. Therese Murray, the president of the State Senate, now controls the fate of the Election Day Registration bill. She can call for a vote on the bill, or she can effectively kill it by doing nothing. The Governor says he’ll sign the bill, and grassroots lobbying by folks like you has already won over House leadership. Now we need to get over the last hump, by convincing Sen. Murray that she should allow an up-or-down vote on Election Day Registration.

    • With the stamp of approval from a SCOTUS headed by Indiana’s John Roberts, the state of Indiana stopped 12 aged nuns from committing voter fraud:

      About 12 Indiana nuns were turned away Tuesday from a polling place by a fellow sister because they didn’t have state or federal identification bearing a photograph.
      Sister Julie McGuire said she was forced to turn away her fellow members of Saint Mary’s Convent in South Bend, across the street from the University of Notre Dame, because they had been told earlier that they would need such an ID to vote.
      The nuns, all in their 80s or 90s, didn’t get one but came to the precinct anyway.
      “One came down this morning, and she was 98, and she said, ‘I don’t want to go do that,'” Sister McGuire said. Some showed up with outdated passports. None of them drives.
      The convent will make “a very concerted effort” to get proper identification for the nuns in time for the general election. “We’re going to take from now until November to get them out and get this done.
      “You can’t do this like school kids on a bus,” she said. “I wish we could.”
      Late Tuesday, Secretary of State Todd Rokita was unapologetic.
      “Indiana’s Voter ID Law applies to everyone. From all accounts that we’ve heard, the sisters were aware of the photo ID requirements and chose not to follow them,” he said in a statement released by his office.

      Indiana’s photo ID law is the strictest in the country. The Republican-led effort was designed to combat ballot fraud, said supporters, who also have acknowledged that no case involving someone impersonating a voter at the polls has ever been prosecuted in Indiana.…snip…
      Sean Greene, of the nonpartisan electionline.org, was monitoring precincts in the Lafayette area of Tippecanoe County. “It’s going pretty well,” he said, despite long lines. “Most of the people I’ve seen today are prepared and used to this. They have their IDs out already.”
      That thought was echoed in South Bend, where Elizabeth Bridges, 63, said half of the people working in her voting precinct were family members, but still she showed her ID.
      “I think the law is a good thing because a lot of people are crooked,” she said.

      p>No one  has ever been prosecuted for fraudulently voting in Indiana, but “a lot of people are crooked” so the state stopped those crooked ninety-year-old nuns.

  2. A small town with a Board of Selectmen. There is controversial issue before the selectman that if approved will allow a huge regional, national or multi-national company build a big so and so that employs lots of people but also has consequences. Means big big big $$$$$ for company and very important to the high level managers in charge of geting it through.

They are experienced at this because they do it all over the country/world/ And they are greedy and don’t mind cheating. They alreasdy tried in their cute ways to bribe selectman. legally and illegally. They have done all the tricks of the trade that are done. Nothing works.

    p>So anyway election coming up for one of the selectmen.   They put up a candidate. A school committee person who takes him on. For a company like this to hire an outside “consulting firm”, the type the are more popualr than ever and will grow because all these special services and contractors Bush created are coming home and need jobs. But I digress.

    p>A few bucks can get the people you need to fly in and vote a few times and leave. Just has to be organized.

    p>A 20 to 40 vote swing in the selectmen races are all it takes many times. After the vote there is nothing that can be done. Go find the peope to prosecute. The candidate knew nothing about it.
