Sonia Chang-Diaz Campaign Kick-Off this Sunday

This Sunday (May 18), we’ll be officially kicking off Sonia Chang-Diaz’s campaign for the Second Suffolk Senate seat.

Come learn more about Sonia’s campaign to bring new leadership to the district and find out how you can be a part of making change happen in Boston this year.

(very close to Green St T stop)

After a short rally and speech from Sonia, we’ll all share a light lunch and head out to knock doors throughout the district for the first major canvass of the campaign.

For BMG readers who don’t know the scenario here in the 2nd Suffolk senate district, the sitting Senator for this district (Dianne Wilkerson-D) has been so badly compromised by her long pattern of unprofessional and irresponsible behaviors that many constituents have concluded that Sen Wilkerson is not able to adequately continue in her role as State Senator for this district. It is a cause of great disappointment but the lack of confidence has passed a point of no return for many of us constituents. It’s now time for a new leader to be given a chance to serve the diverse communities of the Second Suffolk district.

    p>The recent Globe article on Sonia’s campaign ends with important food for thought:

    …The contest has already prompted back-and-forth on the liberal blog BlueMassGroup, with some bemoaning the idea of a progressive activist taking on a reliable liberal voice in the Legislature, while others welcomed the choice such a race would bring. Around here, challenging an incumbent is often regarded as heresy.

    In other places, it’s called democracy, something we could stand to see more of locally.
