Looks like they learned from the conference championships…far fewer bizarre calls or non-calls. They’re not getting everything right — and there’s no reason to expect they would — but there’s less outrageous business and obscure rule invocation.

The Celts are a little uncoordinated offensively — but they hung it with a deep bench and swarming defense. Gotta love PJ Brown in exactly the right place at the right time to rebound Laker misses.
My favorite moment: Garnett’s slam on a rebound after he had missed something like 8 in a row. Pretty much shut the door on the Lakers’ comeback hopes.
Jeez, amazing plays up and down the floor, sweet defensive rotation, baffling missed shots by the Lakers, the drama of Pierce’s knee…and all the commentators want to talk about is Kobe Bryant, who’s been sitting on the bench for a few minutes, now.

p>Reminded me of the other night (really, the whole campaign) where Obama inspired, Clinton persevered, McCain stumbled…and all the pundits want to talk about is a candidate’s spouse who was president eight years ago.

BEAT LA! BEAT LA!

p>It was a sweet victory and surprisingly we outnumbered Lakers fans where I watched it.

I’m from Northern California originally and a lot of people make the false assumption that I would root for Southern Californian teams, which is roughly the equivalent of saying “You’re from the Northeast. You must be a Yankees fan.” San Fransisco is further from LA both geographically and culturally than Boston is from New York, yet no one from the West coast would ever conflate the two.

In Bulls country there is no love lost for either the Celtics or the Lakers so I was expecting very few people in my dorm, outside of the Boston contingent, to be rooting for the Cs. But there were two Cavs fans who hate LA and Kobe and also want the honor to have lost to the world champions. There was a KU fan who loved Paul Pierce back in the day when he was a Jayhawk. There were no LA fans in site despite a larger LA contingent in my dorm and there was one disgruntled Pistons fan rooting for the Lakers.

the Pats or the Sox. Let em talk all they want about Kobe—It will just make it sweeter if we win

is out next game. That twisting looked like it could be a bad bad sprain.
the video of him coming back in Game 1 from the locker room will be an epic part of Celtics lore.

They seem to have “gotten it” halfway through the Detroit series. Nice to see them battle back in the 4th quarter. I agree that, if the C’s win this, Pierce coming back goes mythic.

p>I may be a grumpy old guy, but most of the people on the bandwagon couldn’t spell Celtics a year ago. I may be a really grumpy really old guy, but you’re not a real C’s fan unless you fought off those dog sized rats back in the old Garden.

p>FYI, meaning NO disrespect to the Clinton folks, but this is a funny basketball parody on the recent primary battle;

The Celtics offense got ragged after Peirce had to go to the bench with his third foul.
