MA Sierra Club Announces Early Endorsees

Environmental Leadership Recognized

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Sierra Club announced their “Early Endorsement” of 27 candidates for legislative office across the state. In the coming weeks more endorsements will be announced but those announced today received early endorsement due to their steadfast vision to protect the environment through energy conservation, alternative energy development, transit, toxics reduction and more.

Announcing their endorsement of true environmental leaders the Sierra Club hopes both to promote these legislators visibility with a ‘stamp of approval’ as well as encourage other legislators, many of whom will receive endorsement in coming weeks, to step up their efforts and do even more to protect citizens’ health, safety and the Commonwealth’s natural resources.

“These candidates represent environmental leadership in the state,” said Phil Sego, Chair of the MA Sierra Club Political Committee. “They have demonstrated their commitment to a better, safer and healthier Commonwealth. We are proud to support them.”

The Sierra Club, noted for their high-profile national positions, is also deeply rooted in local, regional, and statewide issues. Their endorsement process includes in-depth research and careful analysis of a questionnaire designed specifically to address local environmental issues. The Club’s endorsement is then communicated to its members, which currently number greater than 26,000 statewide.
