We’re making good progress on the National Anthem concert — we’re approaching 100 tickets sold and $5,000 $7,500 raised. And we’ve even got one regular BMGer playing in the orchestra! Many thanks to those of you who have bought tickets, who have said they would do so soon, and who have forwarded information about the concert on to their own email lists.
But we can do more! I’d love to hit 100 tickets by the end of this month (which is three days one day away). So … if you know you’re coming and just haven’t gotten around to buying a ticket, now would be an excellent time to do so, and to remind your friends to do the same.
We’re counting on BMG readers to be a major engine in spreading the word about this concert. As stomv has explained, we should be able to sell this thing out if everyone here taps into their own networks. Thanks, as always, for your support!

has there been posts on other blogs, both in-state (Lynne, Ryan, et al) and the US-centric ones like kos, FDL, C&L, atrios, MomTalkers, etc.?

I’ve been meaning too. (Thanks for the nudge, a link to which my husband sent me.)

i won’t make direct contributions to obama, but if i were in town i’d pay for the pleasure of enjoying the concert. but on the evening of, i’ll telegraph my best wishes to you all by rustling a few candy wrappers and clearing my throat during the most quiet, introspective moments of the performance. ;-D

i just looked at the program, and think you might get more tickets sold faster if you update the program descriptions to reflect the 21st century experience. Here are some suggestions.

I googled that term, staying far away from whatever the heck this thread is mumbling about.

I mailed one in two weeks ago, and it still has not been presented to my bank.

If the performers are listed by town, then that makes the performance “news” in that town, and postable to town lists.
<
p>Also, in the theater groups I have been in, press releases were tailered so that the performer from each town is mentioned in the press release sent to the local paper for that town.
<
p>Free publicity.

And they are performing. And they are Medford bloggers who organized the concert. That’s the angle I used to show Medford-relevance in a posting to the Medfordmass list.
<
p>But it would be good to have the hometown information of other performers to tailor announcements for other lists.

I just posted a piece about the concert and a link to here and the concert web page.
