The Sterling Democratic Town Committee will host a forum with Robert Feuer, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress, on Thursday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Butterlick Municipal Building, 1 Park Street, on the Sterling Town Common. The event is open to the public.
Feuer, a Stockbridge attorney, will discuss the issues facing the nation and the district, and answer questions from voters. Feuer is running against incumbent Congressman John Olver in the September 16th Democratic primary to represent the First Massachusetts District.
The first district includes all of Berkshire and Franklin counties as well as parts of Middlesex, Hampshire, and Worcester counties, including Sterling, Leominster and Fitchburg.

I checked out Mr Feuer’s web site at http://bobfeuer.us — he appears to be a very liberal Democrat. The apparent rationale for his opposing one of the most progressive Democrats in the House is “preserving the Constitution” and “enforcing that Congress shall all civil officers from office on impeachment”. I haven’t really been paying attention to whether Olver has supported the Kucinich et al. impeachment attempts, because I know he’ll be on board in any serious attempt.

p>Olver also has a Republican opponent, Nathan Bech of West Springfield. He made the news the other day by criticizing Olver’s earmark to support the independent cinema in Amherst Center (as a development move, part of a new downtown multiuse building).

p>I don’t think Olver is sweating over either challenger.
