When people ask me why I decided to run for this seat upon Steve’s departure in February, my answer is simple: This is not about me, this is about the people in Berlin, Marlborough and Southborough. I love my job and I want to continue helping people as we have been doing for the past five years. In this time of economic uncertainty, we need a legislator who is willing to think outside the box to create new revenue for our communities, challenge what seems to be a centuries old way of thinking about education funding, and work with other elected officials at all levels to fix the transportation nightmare that is the 495 Belt so that people can get to work, to the grocery store, or to their doctor on convenient, consistent, and affordable public transit.
Having lived in this district for my entire life, as my mother and grandfather did before me, I have developed a passion for my home town, its schools, and the diversity of the people who live here. I promise to always listen to constituents, and will remain an outspoken advocate for the people in this district.
I am proud to have earned the endorsement of Senator Pam Resor, local elected officials from all three communities in the district, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association, and the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus.
The race in the Fourth Middlesex District may be the closest race in the Commonwealth this fall. With the Republican Party raising thousands of dollars to support my opponent, an entrenched right-wing Marlborough politician, we need every vote we can get. They are using him as the poster child for the party and its hopes to gain power in the state legislature on November 4th.
I need your help to make sure that a Democrat goes to Beacon Hill to represent Berlin, Marlborough, and Southborough in January. Please visit www.daniellegregoire.com to learn more about me, and sign up to volunteer with the campaign.
I look forward to continuing this active campaign, and interacting with voters in the district and Blue Mass Group regulars, to make sure that our government represents the views of the folks they represent.
Since this site is reality based I thought I’d give a different perspective on your race, and your chances.
<
p>In 2007 you ran for Ward Councillor in Marlboro’s Ward 2. Your opponent was Conservative Republican Councilman Paul Ferro. You had the overwhelming support of both the Representative Leduc and Congressman MacGovern machines. You lost. Did you know that Representative Leduc was leaving at the time you started that race?
<
p>It is my understanding that when Arthur Vigeant, the evil conservative Republican’s name, entered the race, the entire field on the Democratic side withdrew their consideration. Mainly because Arthur has finished in first place City Wide in Marlboro for at least the last two elections, and Marlboro makes up the majority of the district. In fact the Mayor of Marlboro has endorsed Arthur Vigeant. I have heard that tonight 8 of 11 City Councilors in Marlboro will jointly endorse Arthur Vigeant, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.
<
p>Arthur has been a strong ally of the Taxpayer in Marlboro. He is well respected. You certainly have your work cut out for you.
Don’t you think it would help your chances if you had any type of real-world experience? You seem to fit the typical mold of a Democrat politician in Massachusetts: graduate from law school and feed at the public trough the rest of your life. How can you pretend to understand the issues facing Massachusetts families? You have never worked in the private sector (other than your job selling wine and cheese at Vin Bin), you don’t pay property taxes because you live with Mom and Dad, you have never had to meet payroll, you don’t have a family so you don’t understand the concerns we have as parents. Get some real experience in the real world then come back and try to represent the rest of us.
