HRC was constantly accused of doing anything or saying anything to get herself the nomination vis-a-vis Barack Obama. We now apparently have confirmation that such is not the case. This article shows that she rejected Mark Penn’s advice to truly negative in a really nasty sort of way against Obama. Good for her!

for setting the record straight. I read that article earlier today and thought how interesting it is that the “say or do anything to win” myth has finally been exposed. How many more myths will be exposed between now and November?

As does the diary.

p>The full articles on the Penn memos (as easily found on the NYTimes, AP, WashPo, etc. websites) don’t indicate at all that she nobly “rejected” Penn’s advice — more like she dithered and delayed while Penn and the rest of her staff fought back and forth over their conflicting approaches to her rather fractured campaign strategy.

p>Not at all the same thing, imho.

that the mythology that “Hillary will do or say anything to win” rings false because the dithering is further evidence of the struggle within the campaign ….because she really wasn’t willing to say or do anything. Think about it…would the campaign have been so fractured if it was just so easy to “say anything” or “do anything?”

p>I don’t think so.
