Two men, Jeff Deck of Somerville, and Benjamin Herson of Virginia pleaded guilty to vandalism while making a cross country tour correct typos on public and private signs. Seems they ran afoul of the National Park Service when taking White-Out and Sharpie to a sign at the Desert View Watchtower on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
The Globe has all the details at http://www.boston.com/news/loc…
In addition to being banned from national parks for a year, the two are barred from modifying any public signs and must pay $3,035 to repair the Grand Canyon sign.
But the real question is… will the Park Service correct the typo when they fix the sign? Can we trust a Bush administration agency with proper detypoerrorification?
